The purpose of the Recovery Engagement Team project is to support prevention of substance use related deaths and promote treatment for substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder (OUD). Team members consist of representatives from: law enforcement, behavioral health providers, peer recovery support specialist and the county health department. This team is trained to serve as a first responder unit for substance related medical emergencies and, thereafter, to approach and counsel overdose victims during their “recovery windows” when users are thought to be more open to accepting help. The Recovery Engagement Team will be supported by a community stakeholder group comprised of representatives from: Children Services, Washington County Health Department, Law Enforcement, Behavioral Health agencies, Behavioral Health Board and Peer Recovery Support Specialists.
